Introduction

Reicast is an open source SEGA Dreamcast Emulator for Android, Pandora and Windows. Ports for other systems are also in the works.

Current version available is in Alpha stages and is not very stable nor very user friendly. You can download it from the Reicast website.


Updating the compatibility list:

- Mention the version of the emulator. If using a GIT WIP build, mention that too.

- Mention if the games tested are in cdi, gdi, or chd format.

- For gdi and chd games, also mention the region. Do not mention region for games using the cdi format (those are usually region free or somehow hacked).

- Use a separate compatibility list for each platform.

- Keep the same formatting as the rest entries on the same list. This includes the coloring order (as shown on the table below).


Playability Description
Perfect Games with a green background are fully playable from start to finish with close to no issues.
Playable Games with a yellow background are fully playable with issues that make the experience less than ideal. This may include missing graphics or sound effects, unexplained slowdowns no matter the host hardware and all sort of issues that are not major enough to affect playability.
Almost Playable Games with an orange background have playability issues and cannot be played from start to finish. This may include missing required graphics or sound effects, unavoidable or very frequent crashes, very slow speed no matter how powerful the host hardware is, etc.
Unplayable Games with a red background are not playable due to major issues. Immediate constant crashes, serious graphical issues that are always present, missing input or output functionality are some of the issue that make something unplayable.
Unsupported Games with a grey background are not playable because they require unimplemented functionality. Most notable examples are games using the MMU or Windows CE.
N/A Games with a white background are not yet tested. If you see those, try them out and update the corresponding list!

Jet Grind Radio Alpha 0.r6 Perfect on Shield. Green
Metropolis Street Racer (PAL) 0.r5 Virtually flawless, FMV video on startup is slow, in-game is near full speed and perfectly calibrated thumbstick. Requires an emulated clock function (otherwise asks for time input each time you start rom). Green
Sonic Adventure 2 0.r5 Runs full speed, but cannot pass King Boom Boo boss due to missing shadow. Flickering graphics issue on some stages (City Escape). Otherwise, runs great! Orange

Dynamite Cop Alpha 0.r5 Heavy flickering triangles. Speed is fine. Menus have black areas covering large portions. Yellow
Sega Bass Fishing Alpha 0.r5 Heavy flickering triangles. Seems to be some slowdown. Yellow
Sonic Adventure Alpha 0.r5 Speed fluctuates between 80-100%. Many dropped frames and sound stuttering. Some areas, such as Chao garden, have no stuttering or dropped frames. No crashes yet. Increasing clock to 1200 Mhz seems to help. Yellow
Virtua Fighter 3tb (US) Alpha 0.r5 Runs at about 70 % of speed, sound stuttering Yellow
Re-Volt (US) Alpha 0.r5 Runs at 90-100% of speed, the sound is stuttering sometimes. BUT menus are missing. Orange
MDK 2 (US) Alpha 0.r5 Runs at almost fullspeed, the sound is quite stable. BUT the sniper mode does not function correct. Aiming is impossible due to a texture problem. Orange
18 Wheeler: American Pro Trucker Alpha 0.r5 Menus are black, pressing start/A can get into the game. Appears to work mostly, in first person view what should be the back of the truck is in front of the cab. Orange
Star Wars - Episode 1 - Racer (US) Alpha 0.r5 Intro videos play fine but game hangs on menu when it says to press start. Red
Marvel VS Capcom 2 (US) Alpha 0.r5 Works well in the menus, and the speed in-game is reasonable, but the characters in 2D are completely glitchy and it makes it unplayable at this stage. Sound stutters too once in a while. Orange
Cannon Spike (US) 0.r5 Runs full speed and smooth, however texture/display glitch problems on 1 out of every 2 environment polygons. Orange
Chu Chu Rocket (JP) Alpha 0.r5 Works full speed most of the time with very little stuttering, but in levels when mice are getting out like crazy with tons of them on screen, it becomes unplayable and freezes. Orange
